Eligibility Criteria for AUT Doctoral Scholarships
Those with an outstanding academic record (normally first-class honors), potential for high-quality research, and strong academic references are offered these doctoral scholarships.
For 2025 AUT Doctoral Scholarships, the applicants must:
- Be applying as a new PhD (doctoral) candidate
- Hold an unconditional offer of a place in the AUT doctoral program
- Possess a GPA OF 8.0 or above in their most recent qualifying program earned (completed) at a New Zealand tertiary institution
- For Māori and domestic Pacific applicants, they must have a GPA of 7.5 or above from their most recent qualifying program earned/completed at a New Zealand tertiary institution, and be a permanent resident/New Zealand citizen
- They must enroll in a PhD/doctoral program within 3 months after being offered the funding/scholarship
Financial Coverage for the AUT Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarships
Successful recipients will receive an annual stipend of $33,726 plus tuition fees in addition to the compulsory student services fee for up to 3 years.
Deadline for Applications
Applications for this opportunity – the Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarship are accepted at any stage during the year, apart from between 1st December to 15th January.
