Doctoral Training Partnerships
The Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) and Centers for Doctoral Training (CDTs) are multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional schemes designed to provide support to the training of the next generation of world-class researchers. Entry Requirements for CENTA PhD Studentships
- Interested applicants are required to obtain a first-class or an upper second-class BSc and/or M-level degree (or its equivalent foreign qualification) in a related subject.
- Those applicants holding a lower second-class honors degree or its equivalent from abroad (equivalent overseas qualification) in a related subject might be considered for admission providing that they also possess a Master’s degree in a related subject.
- It is to be noted that the English language requirements set by the University of Leicester will apply.
Eligibility Criteria for PhD Studentships
- This is to be noted that the project-based studentships are open to all applicants meeting the academic requirements (at least a 2:1 at the UK BSc level or at least a pass at the UK MSc level or its equivalent).
- International students will require a student visa to study in the UK. The visa (incurred on visa process) costs will be met by the students, which are approximately £2,500 for the visa and healthcare surcharge.
- Applicants from the EU holding an EU-settled or EU pre-settled status are required to provide PGR Admissions with a share code (the one that begins with S) so that their fee status can be verified (email to pgradmissions@le.ac.uk).
Available Funding for CENTA PhD Studentships
These studentships carry 3.5 years duration and will be funded by NERC CENTA and offer:
- Tuition fees at United Kingdom (Home) rates*
- Research Training Support Grant (RTSG)
- Annual stipend (presently set at £19.237 per year for 2024-25)
*International students are welcome to apply for these studentships but they need to be able to show (demonstrate) they can fund the difference between the United Kingdom and overseas fees for their study’s duration. This will amount to £18,864 per year of study. (2024-25 rates).
