This unique programme has been designed for professionals from all parts of the world having a first university degree in a related field and first practical experience with relevance to development management who are in need of advanced academic training to qualify for positions as experts in planning, implementation, management, and then evaluation of projects and development programmes.
About the MADM at Ruhr University Bochum (Germany)
It is a three-semester full-time degree programme that is conducted in English. The programme begins every other year, with the next intake to be held in September 2026. MADM combines coursework relevant to theories in economics and social sciences, methods of empirical social research, and project cycle management, laced with practical application of methodological and theoretical knowledge through student-led research projects, an opportunity to complete an internship period, and a simulation game.

Eligibility Criteria for DAAD EPOS Scholarship 2026
The programme is an interdisciplinary study created and designed for students from all corners of the world who want to make a career in international cooperation and development. Entry requirements (which need to be met) are:
- Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in social science, political science, economics, law, or geography, or in other subjects relevant to the planning and evaluation of development programmes and projects with at least ‘second class, upper division’ or even its equivalent
- English proficiency is required, such as IELTS (6.0) or TOEFL (79-80 iBT)
- Applicants must have certified experience that should be relevant to the management of development programs and projects, either academic experience in teaching and research at any institution of higher education, or practical work experience above 4 weeks
Value of the Scholarship (DAAD EPOS Scholarship 2026 in Germany)
- Monthly payment of Euro 992 for graduates, depending on the candidate’s academic level
- They (successful candidates) will be offered payment towards their accident, health, and personal liability insurance cover
- Tuition coverage
- They will also be provided with a travel allowance, unless these expenditures are borne/covered by their home countries or any other source of income
Note: Under all circumstances, recipients of the scholarships might receive the following extra benefits:
- Subsidy for monthly rent
- For accompanying family members, there will be a monthly allowance
