Job Description for PhD Position in Economics
A highly motivated PhD candidate in economics is required to join the research team and work on novel topics relevant to inequality in labor markets. The successful candidates for this position will discover issues like income and wealth disparities, access to opportunities, and the organization’s role and public policies in addressing labor market inequalities.
This position is open for candidates who show their interest in any kind of experimental methods, such as field lab, natural, or survey.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates with MPhil or Research Master’s degree in Econometrics, Economics, or Physics will be preferred.
- Those who have an MSc or MA degree will be required to complete one year of courses successfully at the graduate school they are part of (Research Qualifications at the Tinbergen Institute or courses at ERIM).
- They should have exceptional study results for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
- They should have an interest in and possess strong motivation for scientific research explained in the statement of purpose.
- GRE test is also a requirement. They need to submit the test scores for all three sections, namely Quantitative, Verbal, and Analytical Writing. It must be noted that the students/candidates have to score in the top 10% of the quantitative section. Those candidates having a Q score below 160 will not be taken into consideration for scholarships.
- Candidates need to be proficient in the English language (IELTS/TOEFL). Applicants whose native language is other than English (not English) will therefore be required to showcase their proficiency by having a degree from a Dutch university or an institution at which the medium of instruction is English. Or they can produce the test scores with a minimum 100 score on the TOEFL iBT or 7 on the IELTS.

Salary – It will be between €2,901 and €3,707 gross (full-time on a scale of PhD with 38 hours per week).
