Information Regarding the ETH Zurich Student Research Assistantship
Presently, Research Assistants are sought to assist with a specific project, but the university is open (and would welcome) to collaborate beyond this venture (project) in which the research assistants would support in investigating the effects of embodied physics experimentation on learning force concepts.
This project uses data collection through one-on-one (direct contact) lab experiments with participants with adult participants. The prime responsibility of the research assistants will be arranging video-recorded experiment sessions in the lab by following a script. Additionally, the Ras will also be involved in transcription, data cleaning, data analysis, and grading.
The compensation to be offered to them will be CHF 30.70 per hour for up to 15 hours per week (during the semester).

Job Description of the Student Research Assistants
- Using a predefined script, conducting 60 to 120-minute one-by-one experiment sessions with participants
- Transcribing interview sections of the session video recordings
- Reviewing transcriptions performed through tools (for example, OpenAI Whisper) to ensure accuracy
- Organizing and cleaning the collected data
- Grading students’ answers and drawings by following a rubric
- Doing recordings of the code sessions with qualitative methods (by using a predefined codebook)
- Collaborating with the researcher to refine the codebook as required
ETH Zurich Student Research Assistantship Eligibility
- Applicants must be proficient in English (native or C1/C2 level)
- They are presently university students in Zurich, Switzerland (in any area/field) and will remain enrolled as a student for at least a year
- They must be interested in understanding how to improve STEM education through a research-driven method
- They have to be motivated for learning about research methods in learning educational and scientific research
- Candidates should be able to work in July, August, and September 2025, with a possibility to work longer
