- For the mentee’s doctoral studies, the mentorship will be from one ETH professor, postdoc, or senior scientist over one year time. This should be noted that the ETH mentors will be free to serve on the doctoral committee of the ETH4D mentee, but this is not any kind of requirement.

The eligible applicants are those who are doctoral candidates and registered at a university or research institute in a least-developed, low and lower-middle-income country according to the external page OECD/DAC List.
The ETH professorship hosting the doctoral candidates should submit the application. If the doctoral candidates directly submit the applications, they will not be accepted.
Financial Coverage Under ETH4D Doctoral Mentorship Grants
Successful candidates will be offered a fully funded opportunity, and the available coverage will consist of the following expenses.
- Visa fees
- Economy class roundtrip air tickets (maximum 2K CHF) to and from Switzerland for the research stay
- Research material (such as lab equipment). It will be a maximum of 6K CHF in total
- Travel allowance to be offered to attend an academic conference
- Health insurance fees
- Accommodation
- Local transportation expenses
- A living allowance to be provided for the candidate’s research stay duration at ETH Zurich
