- The grant is available to all fields of study available to be taught at the university.
- The applicant needs to possess 2 to 7 years of experience post PhD (since the completion of PhD).
- The applicant needs to present a project that is conducted in a private or public research organization. This might be where the candidate (applicant) already works, or any other host organization situated in anywhere in EU member states or Associated Countries.
- Researchers (from any part of the world) may lodge their applications for ERC grants (ERC Advanced Grant) provided that the research area they choose would be carried out in an EU Member State or Associated Country.
Financial Benefits
The successful candidates will be provided with an award amounting $4,000,000 (up to) by the University of Melbourne. The Staring Grants could be conferred up to €1.5 million for the duration of 5 years (pro-rata for projects of shorter period).
Therefore, an extra €1 million could be provided for the coverage of eligible start-up costs for researchers who move from a third world to the European Union or any associated country and/or the buying of major equipment and/or access to whopping facilities and/or other major experimental and field work expenditures.
