Fellows chosen for the FAO Schwarz Fellowship Program deepen their understanding and knowledge about related social issues and work directly with host communities. Besides, they lead strategic projects that strengthen the capacity of the host organization and impact.

Eligibility Criteria for the FAO Schwarz Fellowship Program

Interested candidates are required to meet the FAO Schwarz Fellowship Program requirements.  At the time of application, the candidates have to be college seniors at accredited 4-year institutions. They need to be eligible to work in the USA for the entire duration of the fellowship program.

The fellows of this program have always been highly motivated and highly passionate recent college graduates committed to social justice leadership and social change. Successful candidates possess demonstrated leadership in their college communities and carry a proven record of academic success.

The candidates should seek to immerse themselves in an experience that will train them, challenge them, and, above all, empower them to lead in careers in social impact. The applicants must be graduating from an accredited four-year university or college between December 2024 and June 2025.

Financial Coverage

Successful fellows who begin their fellowship program during the summer of 2025 will receive a total compensation of approximately $105,000 (Boston & New York) or $95,000 (Philadelphia) apart from benefits over the 2-year fellowship.

It is to be noted that because of the differences in living costs, the salaries for New York City and Boston-based fellows are slightly higher than those of Philadelphia fellows.

  • Year One: $50,000 (New York City and Boston) – $45,000 (Philadelphia) both include a $2,000 start of fellowship bonus
  • Year Two: $55,00 (New York City and Boston) – $50,000 (Philadelphia) both include a $3,000 end-of-fellowship bonus
  • Professional development and leadership training
  • Entry-level benefits for employees at their host organization

Deadline for Application Submission

The applications for the fellowship program are due by 1st February 2025.
