Information Regarding the Fully Funded PhD Position in the Netherlands

In this PhD project, the candidate will experimentally study how to achieve high specificity by developing a quantitative understanding of the interactions between the nanomedicine and cellular membranes.

Under the supervision of Prof. Daniela Kraft, the PhD position will be done. A collaborative and inspiring environment is offered with state-of-the-art equipment. This PhD venture is part of the national effort to generate unique nanomedicines for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. The PhD student will collaborate with and contribute to this multidisciplinary consortium.

Eligibility Requirements

The university is seeking a candidate for this position who has a background in physics and is completely committed to doing independent and original scientific research. This research’s outcome will be reported in scientific publications and later on be communicated through conference presentations, besides being described in a PhD thesis to be completed within the timeframe of 4 years.

Additionally, the PhD candidate will be expected to contribute 10% of his/her time to different teaching activities like research projects of BSc and MSc students and supervision of exercise classes. Other requirements include:

  • Proficiency in the English language
  • A (prospective) MSc degree in the field of Physics (or an equivalent thereof)
  • Ability to work quite efficiently, both independently and as a team

Note: Candidate’s prior experience in the fields of soft matter or quantitative image analysis, biophysics, and programming experience with Python will be considered beneficial but not required. Women are particularly encouraged, and applications from candidates who are from other groups that are presently under-represented in academic posts will also be considered.
