Information Regarding the HIIA Future Leaders Program 2026

The HIIA Future Leaders Program is conducted in English and will run from 1^st April 2026 till 30^th June 2026 in person. The fellowship aims to endow the fellows with an opportunity to learn. It is for the young talents and recent graduates interested in learning details about foreign policy and want to get involved in the work of HIIA, and who are also interested in deepening their knowledge of the different fields of Hungarian foreign policy.

Under professional mentorship, the fellows will conduct research during the program and participate in the work of HIIA’s research groups and project management group.

Details and Key Research Topics for the HIIA Future Leaders Program 2026

The fellows will be offered a comprehensive educational and professional training, including seminars on foreign policy in addition to leadership skills, media training, and public speaking, and there will also be opportunities to participate in public professionals’ discussions.

Eligibility Criteria for the HIIA Future Leaders Program

International candidates (all nationalities) are eligible
They have to be recent graduates possessing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
At the time of application submission, applicants are required to be under 30 years of age
The eligible academic backgrounds for this program include political science, international relations, history, diplomacy, and closely related fields
Those interested in applying must show a strong interest in foreign policy and international affairs
Interested applicants need to be proficient in a high level of English, with at least a C1-level English language certificate
Applicants are required to participate in a comprehensive, in-person program (around 30 hours per week)
They need to be available to attend the program fully for the whole duration from 1^st April to 30 June 2026 in Budapest, Hungary
International candidates are also advised and required to obtain the necessary visa to attend the program in Hungary, with assistance available from HIIA (if required/need be)

Financial Coverage for the HIIA Future Leaders Program 2026

As far as the funding is concerned, HIIA will offer additional funding for international fellows who do not have a residence permit in Hungary. The following coverage will be provided.

For accommodation expenses, a fixed amount of financial support will be offered
