Information Regarding Kummer Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellows Program

The Kummer Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellows Program has been created and designed to encourage innovative-minded students so that they can pursue their doctoral (PhD) degrees to strengthen technological innovation, applied research, and economic development in the state, region, and nation. This program is limited to no more than one hundred active fellows. Each doctoral fellow will be offered a Graduate Research Assistantship position on campus, tuition remission for required coursework for up to 4 years, and a fellowship (paid out semesterly).
Eligibility Maintenance Requirements
Interested candidates should be aware of the requirements to remain eligible for the Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellow. They are required to do the following.
- Maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA
- They must be enrolled with full-time graduate student status on the Missouri S&T campus
- They need to participate actively in the Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellows program presentations, meetings, and activities
- The candidates are required to complete department PhD requirements in compliance with the timeline of the program
- They need to prepare an annual progress report that will be reviewed by the Office of the Kummer Student Programs
Requirements for Program Participation
- Attending the Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellows Orientation conducted in the 1st week of classes in the semesters of fall and spring
- Presentations of research at the Graduate Research Showcase, Kummer Day, Kummer Institute Foundation Board Meetings
- Kummer Institute-related public events, like the ones namely groundbreakings and dedications
- Participating in site visits that offer the participants (fellows) a novel opportunity to make connections personally with industry leaders and entrepreneurs
- Mentoring S&T undergraduate Kummer Vanguard Scholars and making collaborations on joint poster presentations, which will be set to be showcased at the Kummer Scholars poster competition day, and the Kummer I&E Fellows
