Eligibility Criteria for MacEwan University’s International Chancellor’s Scholarship Series
Students wishing to avail of the entrance scholarships at MacEwan University should meet the following requirements to be automatically considered for the award:
- They need to apply for admission by the deadlines, which are: for fall (1st March) and for winter (1st July).
- If they are international students, they need to be on a valid study permit
- They must carry an admission average within one of the scholarship tiers (mentioned later in the post)
- They must be admitted to a degree program in the fall term or the winter term
Note: The candidates need to meet the international chancellor’s scholarship series eligibility (mentioned above) to be considered for the scholarship.

Financial Coverage for the Chancellor’s Scholarship Series
These scholarships are offered to international students entering a degree or diploma program with an admission average or admission grade point average (AGPA) in the following tiers.
For Degree Programs
- Chancellor’s Scholarship (95 to 100% or AGPA higher than 3.99) for fall or winter terms
- President’s Scholarship (90 to 94.99% or AGPA of 3.90 to 3.99) for fall or winter terms
- Provost’s Scholarship (85 to 89.99% or AGPA of 3.70 to 3.89) for fall or winter terms
- Dean’s Scholarship (80 to 84.99% or AGPA of 3.5 to 3.69) for fall or winter terms
For Diploma Programs
- President’s Scholarship (90+% or AGPA of 3.90+) for the winter term
- Provost’s Scholarship (80 to 89.99% or AGPA of 3.5 to 3.89) for the winter term

Selection Process for MacEwan University’s International Chancellor’s Scholarship Series
- For the selection of the recipients of the entrance scholarships, the criteria will be based on the study program the applicants have chosen and their admission average
- In the case where there are more qualified students than funds are available, scholarships will be offered beginning with the highest averages until funds are exhausted
Disbursement of the Scholarship
Fall Entrance
- The value of the scholarship will be disbursed in two equal amounts across two terms, namely fall and winter
- To maintain a scholarship, the recipients are required to be enrolled in at least 12 credits in the fall term, and 12 credits in the winter term by the fall term add/drop deadline
- If the students wish to receive the 2nd installment of funds in the winter term, they have to complete at least 12 credits in the fall term with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and remain enrolled in 12 credits for the winter term
Winter Entrance
- The scholarship will be disbursed in the winter term
- To obtain the scholarship, the recipients need to be enrolled in at least 12 credits in the winter term by the add/drop deadline
Special Note: Continuing scholarships are offered to international students in the Chancellor’s, Provost’s, President’s, Dean’s, and Registrar’s tiers. It must also be noted that registrar’s level scholarships will only be provided in years where the university has funds available.

Closing Dates for Applications
Interested candidates are advised to follow the deadlines, which are 1st March for the fall term and 1st July for the winter term.
