Successful students will receive full tuition fee support and a bursary for living expenses for applicants wishing to study at the university.

Eligibility Criteria for the Newcastle University Scholarships

Under this scheme, the following categories of applicants can apply for this scholarship.

Asylum-seekers and their kids plus unaccompanied asylum-seekers children (such as children migrants under 18). Applicants with refugee status.
Applicants must be residing in the United Kingdom by the time they apply for consideration under this scheme. Applicants from the North East of England (County Durham, Tyne and Wear, North Cumbria, Northumberland, and Cleveland) will be given priority.
To be considered for the Sanctuary Scholarship Scheme, applicants need to have an offer from Newcastle University. Priority will be given to those applicants who have so far not had the chance to access higher study to date.
Those applicants holding qualifications from outside the United Kingdom are welcome. They can select their country to find typical undergraduate and postgraduate entry requirements before they apply to Newcastle University.
For their choice of course, applicants are required to meet the English language criteria, or they need to have relevant qualifications to demonstrate their English proficiency.
Applicants need to be unable to access mainstream funding such as from Student Finance England or a local authority grant.
