The NHR Graduate School (National High-Performance Computing Alliance) collaborates with nine best computing centers of the top-ranked German universities to train the next generation of HPC experts.

The NHR Graduate School of the NHR Alliance offers up to 9 PhD scholarships a year to PhD students from all parts of the world. Those with a master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, or engineering sciences, or an equivalent degree, and who are interested in high-performance computing, this fellowship program provides them with the perfect opportunity to pursue a PhD program at one of the eligible (onboard) NHR Centers. All NHR Centers are affiliated with the universities in Germany.
Eligibility Criteria for the NHR Graduate School PhD Scholarships in Germany
Applicants of all genders and backgrounds are encouraged to apply for these PhD scholarships.
- Eligible candidates must have completed their master’s degrees in the fields of mathematics, computer science, engineering, natural sciences, or a comparable field
- They are required to meet the admission criteria for doctoral studies of the supervising NHR Center
- There could be additional acceptance requirements that might be mentioned in the subject-specific doctoral regulations
Funding Availability
- It is worth noting that the scholarship will be conferred for a maximum period of 36 months
- Successful candidates will receive 2,200 EUR per month
- Opportunity to be supervised by internationally renowned researchers
- Cutting-edge training
- There will be a 6-month research outside the selected focus at another NHR Center (Secondment)
- Networking opportunities
- There will be additional offers like career coaching, soft skills, and mentoring programs

Deadline for Applications
Applications can be submitted up to and including September 15th. Funding will begin on April 1st of the following year. It must be noted that even if the scholarship starts later, the funding will end on 31st March of the respective year.
