Eligibility Criteria for the Reuters Institute Fellowship 2026
The application period is going on for fellowships starting in October 2026, January 2027, or April 2027.
- To be considered for this fellowship, applicants need to have at least 5 years of journalistic experience, or, in rare cases, they can demonstrate the equivalent level of expertise.
- Freelancing does not become a barrier to applying, it means freelancers can also apply, but the institute does not accept applications from those candidates working in public affairs, corporate communications, or public relations.
- Journalists from all parts of the world are eligible to apply, including Africa, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and Latin America
- The candidates must plan to return to their journalism activities after completing the programme
- Although English proficiency is not tested, the candidates need to be able to understand and join the discussions that happen in English
Financial Coverage
This is a fully funded programme.
- Recipients of the scholarships will get the exemption from the fees and will receive a monthly stipend of £2,000 that is enough to cover accommodation expenses, food, and general living costs
- The travel costs will be covered (round airfare)
