SIPGA Projects

Those who are selected will pursue their attachment at an ASTAR Research Institute. Details of the ASTAR Research Entities can be checked here. Under SIPGA, research areas will be available broadly into four categories namely Physical Sciences (PS), Biomedical Sciences (BMS), Computing and Information Sciences (CIT), and Engineering and Technology (E&T).

Since research is increasingly interdisciplinary, it is advised and encouraged to consider projects in all categories regardless of the candidate’s prior research experience.

Eligibility Criteria for Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA)

  • This opportunity is open to international 3rd and 4th year undergraduate and master’s students from international universities in STEM courses.
  • They have obtained/are on track to obtain a minimum of a second-class (upper) honor or equivalent for a bachelor’s degree.
  • During the attachment period, the candidates have to remain matriculated in their home university.
  • They must be proficient in English (both written and spoken).
  • They do have a strong interest in a research center.

Note: It is worth noting that the above-mentioned eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR could include additional criteria for selection based on prevailing scholarship policies.

Financial Coverage Under SIPGA Internship in Singapore 2025

Successful candidates will be offered a monthly stipend of S$2,000. Interested candidates need to understand that they have to complete an online SIPGA Attachment Report at least three weeks prior to the end of the attachment.

How to Apply for the Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA)

Step One – The candidates need to view the SIPGA Project List for their project selection.

Step Two – It is now time to prepare supporting documents such as a passport copy, and complete academic transcripts of bachelor’s and/or master’s (if applicable). If the transcripts are not in English, you need to get them translated into English (check details on the official call).

Step Three – Submit the application using the official online portal. Candidates may apply for up to three projects.

Step Four – Online interview (shortlisted will be contacted for an interview).
