Eligibility Criteria for the South East Doctoral Training Arc Scholarship
These PhD degrees are open to both international and domestic UK students and consist of UK home fees and stipend awards.
Financial Benefits
This Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funding is available to up to 39 PhD students for September 2026 entry. Scholarship will provide coverage of UK tuition fees and offer a stipend at the UKRI home rate on a full-time and part-time basis.
Since UKRI has so far not announced the fees and stipend for the academic year 2026-27, the UK fees are £5,006, and the stipend is £20,780 (£22,780, providing that London weighting applies). The balance between international and home tuition fees will be borne by the SEDarc institutions for successful international applicants.

How to Apply for the South East Doctoral Training Arc Scholarship?
Interested candidates are required to be nominated by one of the six SEDarc institutions to apply to the doctoral program. It is the student’s responsibility to contact one of SEDarc administrators at the SEDarc institution of their choice, as each institution has its own deadline and application process.
