These scholarships are available to those students who are commencing their master’s degree in September 2025.

Eligibility Criteria for UCL Scholarships (Bartlett Promise Scholarships) 

  • The candidates must be residents and nationals of an eligible Sub-Saharan African country
  • They must not have a British or dual British citizenship
  • They should demonstrate financial need
  • The candidates must possess an offer (unconditional or conditional only in the English language) for a Bartlett master’s degree program for the academic year 2025-26

Additional consideration for the scholarship will be given to those applicants who:

  • Should be a forced migrant
  • Happen to be the first generation in the family to attend an undergraduate degree at a university
  • Happen to be the first generation in the family to attend a postgraduate degree at a university

Financial Coverage for the UCL Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship

  • Full overseas tuition fees
  • £16,008 – an annual allowance for the coverage of living and study expenditures for the normal duration of the eligible study program at UCL
  • Travel expenses (such as flight to/from the UK)
  • UK study visa expenses
  • English language assessment costs
  • Health test costs
  • NHS immigration health supplement charge
  • All promise scholars will also be offered ongoing academic and career support during their study

Selection Process

The panel will assess the applications on the basis of the information provided in the scholarship application form and through the information provided in the dialogue taken place with the Windsor Fellowship. Applicant assessment will be done in relation to the eligibility criteria.

The last date to submit the applications is 28th March 2025. It is advised to apply as early as possible.

Applicants have to first secure a place on the Bartlett study program such as Bartlett Master’s degree. Once they have an offer of a place, they can then apply for the scholarship.
