This fellowship scheme endows the government officials and other mid-level professionals from developing countries with advance level training on law of sea and ocean affairs in addition to related disciplines such as marine science in support of management frameworks.
At United Nations Foundation Fellowship, the participants (fellows) will be learning regarding international frameworks, best practices in ocean affairs and central issues, besides they will get familiar with the functions/works of United Nations in addition to developing professional skills.
The chosen fellows will also be required to conduct individual research under the academic supervisors and develop a written thesis on a subject matter selected by them.

- You need to be between 25 to 40 years of age.
- You need to have completed your first university degree.
- You need to be a government official.

- You need to be from a developing state (country).
- You need to be dealing directly with ocean affairs.
