Information Regarding the University of the South Pacific Write-Up Scholarship

The write-up scholarship is out there to support the students in writing up their research for publications after they have submitted their master’s or PhD thesis for examination. The funding for the opportunity is for a maximum of 3 months.

Eligibility Criteria for Write-Up Scholarship

Interested applicants must:

Have undertaken either a master’s degree (by research) or a PhD program at USP (the University of the South Pacific)
Have submitted for examination via proper channels the final version of their thesis for examination (internal and external)
Not be the recipient of any other funding or scholarship
Not be doing or must not be engaged in any other form of paid jobs (employment)
Be committed to devote themselves to 40 hours weekly for the writing-up of their research under their research supervisor (s) direction

Note: It must be noted that it is unlikely that the applicants who are not citizens of USP member countries will be conferred a write-up scholarship.

Selection Criteria for the University of the South Pacific Write-Up Scholarship

The criteria of selection will be based on:

Meeting the eligibility and conditions
The availability of the supervisor’s agreement and the supervisor’s availability for regular meetings
Availability of the funding
Applicant’s demonstrated capacity to meet milestones

Financial Coverage

Successful applicants will be offered a monthly living allowance of FJ$1095.25.

Conditions of Receiving the Award

The principal supervisor has to be available to scrutinize draft manuscripts. The candidates to whom the award (full-time) is offered will not be allowed to undertake any form of paid job (employment) during the award’s tenure (including as part-time tutors or markers). This scholarship will not be paid with any other scholarship concurrently.
