The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents also known widely as the ANSO Scholarship was launched in 2019 formally with the purpose of training and cultivating young scientists from all parts of the world.

Each year, with the help of this scholarship, 200 Master’s students and 300 PhD candidates (students) are supported to pursue their postgraduate education at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), or Institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) around China. The 2024 call for applications has now been announced, for which the applications are open and invited.

There is a sub-category of the ANSO Scholarship – the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship that was launched in 2022 officially. Echoing the priority of TWAS/UNESCO, special (not exclusive) consideration would be given to two target groups: women and Least Development Countries (LDCs). Under the category of TWAS/UNESCO, up to 50 PhD students from developing countries will be chosen each year.

The major sponsor of the ANSO Scholarship is CAS, the leading founding member of ANSO. Both the founding members of ANSO namely TWAS and UNESCO provide part of the funding for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship awardees.
