In partnership with Ros Moger and Terry Furlong Group, Cannon Collins Trust invites applications from the eligible students for their postgraduate studies in South Africa. The applications for the programs are required for the academic year 2023. This scholarship has been named after Ros and Terry, who were inspirational London educationists. Since year 2001, their friends and families have raised funds in their memory to confer scholarships to the students in their name.
In partnership with RMTF, Cano Collins Trust seeks to provide support to outstanding individuals who are determined and well-committed to social justice in Southern Africa. This scholarship is for those for whom the postgraduate study is a vital tool in working to create just and open society.

Fields of Study for Postgraduate Education
Under Canon Scholarship scheme in year 2023, the awards will be provided to those applicants studying in three areas mentioned as under:
- Education policy and practice
- Justice that incudes law, climate justice, economics and politics
- Humanities that include history, literature, anthropology and the arts
Note: The applicants are advised to apply only if their study falls into one of the above-mentioned three disciplines.
Sometimes doctoral studies and interdisciplinary courses defy easy categorization. Thus, the applicants are required to use their judgement in making assessment to apply or not apply. On the other hand, the applications which clearly do not fall into Education, Justice or Humanities (such as economics, MBAs, medical sciences, applied sciences and sports sciences) will not be taken into consideration for the award.
Funding for this opportunity (Collins Scholarship) will be provided for up to a maximum 2 years for Master’s program and 3 years for PhD degree. If you like to receive continuous funding, you should be aware of the fact that it will depend on your satisfactory progress and academic reports.

Eligibility Criteria for Canon Collins RMTF Scholarships for Postgraduate Study
The applicants, who would like to be considered for this financial aid, need to:
- Be a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the below-mentioned countries:
Botswana, Angola, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique and Zambia.
- Be the resident of one of the above-mentioned countries.
- Have a good first degree (second class minimum, upper division or its equivalent), or they are about to graduate in the year they submit the application for this scholarship.
- Be studying or submitting the applications for study at a South African university.

Financial Coverage
The successful candidates will be provided with the funding for up to a maximum two years for Master’s programs and three years for PhD degrees. Depending on the circumstances of students, the value of scholarship package may range from R20,000 to R100,000. The financial support will be provided for both full and part-time studies.
