Information about Girl Up Scholarship Fund

This scholarship opportunity is offered and now open to young women, self-identified and gender non-conforming youth who were assigned female at birth (from all nationalities and backgrounds). Girl Up community is strong and it works hard to strengthen the women across the world.

The applications are welcome from all people irrespective of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, race, ethnic and cultural background, disability or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

The movement was founded by the United Nations Foundation in 2010. It was launched as an initiative to help support United Nations agencies which focus on adolescent girls.

Financial Benefits

For Girl Up Scholarship Fund, there are financial benefits to be provided to the chosen students. The opportunity is offered to alleviate the financial burdens of the members of the Girl Up Community for their post-secondary education. The coverage also supports the students’ success who are working to advance the gender equality. This year (2021), Girl Up Movement is all set to confer $87,500 in the form of scholarships ($2,500 to at least 35 girl recipients).

Eligible Candidates for Girl Up Scholarship Fund

To be eligible for this fund, the applicants have to fulfill below requirements:

The applicant needs to be a Girl Up member from any part of the world.
The applicant has to be enrolled in a 2-year, 4-year or technical college by the time the selection procedure happens (graduating high school seniors are also eligible to apply).
