These scholarships are awarded throughout the year for first-year and transfer applicants. Eligibility Criteria for the University of Hawaii at Manoa Scholarships

You are eligible to apply for the scholarship if you are admitted first-year or transfer degree-seeking student/applicant and your citizenship is outside the United States (those who require an F-1 visa to enroll are eligible). Besides, you need to have a strong academic background.

First-year admitted applicants who are considered international students (as mentioned above) and who require an F-1 Visa to enroll at the University of Hawaii at Mona with a cumulative 3.3 high school/secondary school GPA or higher will be taken into consideration for the scholarship. Transfer-admitted overseas applicants (international students) who require an F-1 Visa to enroll at UH Mona with a cumulative 3.3 college GPA or higher will be taken into consideration for the scholarship.

Note: If you already possess a Bachelor’s degree and are planning to pursue a second degree at Mona, you are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Financial Coverage

There is financial coverage available under the University of Hawaii at Manoa scholarships for international students. The amount for the international merit award scholarship is equivalent to 150% of the resident tuition rate presently for the 2023-24 academic year. This scholarship is valued at around $ 16,380 per academic year. The amount will be applied toward and reduce the tuition costs of the students.

Renewal Criteria for Scholarships

For the renewal of the scholarship, students need to meet the following criteria:

  • Should maintain a 2.0 undergraduate cumulative GPA or higher
  • They need to be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credits per semester) at Mānoa

Deadline for Applications

As mentioned earlier the Office of Admissions will offer these scholarships around the year for first-year and transfer applicants. The priority deadlines for scholarship consideration are:

  • 1st November for students enrolling in the spring semester
  • 1st July for students enrolling in the fall semester

Applicants are advised to apply as early as possible to apply before the priority deadlines to maximize their chances of getting a scholarship.
